#12 – FINDING HELP IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Teaching Tips
Make sure you take time before this session to gather information
specific to your state and local area. Benefits vary widely in
different areas and are managed by different organizations.
Have an internet connection and computers available in this
session so parents can go to www.benefits.gov and walk through
the process of entering key information and seeing the benefits for
which they qualify.
If parents have access to the internet, you may want to have
parents go to the website before this class session and complete

the online information assessment and have them bring a list of
possible benefits they want to explore.
You should also have links to your state’s health and human
services department’s website with access to local benefits and

services.
If you don’t have computer access, contact local agencies ahead
of time and get printed materials and brochures with details on
types of services available in your area.
Use the Anger Management Plan activity as a review of the
things parents have learned about their anger and ways to
manage it effectively. Have them review previous Parenting
Worksheets to collect information for their Anger Management
summary.
