Studies show… kids in cohabitating households can have more problems
than kids whose parents are single or married:
Kids of cohabitating parents are
Twice as likely to:
• drop out of high school
• use drugs
• end up depressed
Three times more likely to be:
• Physically, sexually or emotionally abused
It’s important to introduce kids to new partners and help them develop a
relationship before moving in together. Each time you change partners, you
child goes through a loss and a mini crisis. For kids it can be like going
through a divorce all over again.
