                   • Be a strong couple first
                   • Stick together

                   • Take your time – you’ll have better results if you wait two or more years
to marry after a divorce, too many changes at once can be a hard
                       adjustment

                   • It may take time to get close to the other person’s children
                   • Do everyday things together as a family (dinner, going to the park,
going to a movie or shopping)

                   • Plan how you’ll parent together before you remarry

                   • Don’t let anyone put you into a situation where you have to choose
between your partner and your kids
                   • Make it a rule that everyone treats others with respect

                   • Don’t expect everyone to get along all the time. You have to build the
                       relationship into a family.
