No. 12B – Shifting My Attitude

               Overview/Goals:

After doing Exercise No. 12A, you should have identified any negative attitudes you’d like to
change. This exercise helps you create ways to adjust your attitudes as needed.

Learning to talk more positively in a situation can help you change your attitude. Many successful
people use affirmations to make change in their lives. An affirmation is where you write down
something you know to be true, or want to be true, and then repeat it to yourself in a positive way
to remind yourself that it is true. You are reminding yourself of what you want your attitude to be.
Put affirmations in a place where you will see them several times a day.
                                          For Evaluation Only
An example of a positive affirmation for someone who wants to be a better communicator might
               be:

I enjoy my work and always give focused attention
to the client I am working with now.

               1. Look at three attitudes you want to improve in yourself and create an affirmation statement for
each. Remember to state it in a positive way.
