• If you’ve made a mistake, apologize and ask for a do-over. Everyone
needs one once in a while.
• Use the voice you’d like someone to use with you.

Getting Respect from Kids

• Be a parent – not a friend – set limits
• Be respectful to them, if they’ve made a mistake, don’t embarrass them
in front of friends, but take them aside and correct them privately
• Be consistent – enforce rules, review the rules and consequences when
things are calm.
• Teach manners and basic courtesy – good manners are a way to show
respect to others
