O*NET Mapping of Pamphlet and IM Content
The Parenting Pamphlet Series recognizes the importance of identifying and tracking the
knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) of each individual. It is the client’s own knowledge
of their KSAs that helps them make good decisions. Even as people are learning parenting
skills in this series, they are also developing skills that can be used on the job. Every
occupation requires a different mix of knowledge, skills, and abilities, and is performed
using a variety of activities and tasks. The US Department of Labor has identified the KSAs
utilized in over 974 different occupations, presented in their O*NET database.
The KSAs of each pamphlet, and its corresponding IM content, have been mapped to the
O*NET KSA definitions, and appear in the introduction of each pamphlet’s IM section.
Completion of this parenting series also helps individuals build transferrable skills that will
crosswalk into existing workplace demands. Participants will be learning the specific
knowledge, skills, and abilities listed as they engage in the learning process through active
discussion, and completion of pamphlet and instructional manual activities and

worksheets. All materials are designed to build work readiness and employability skills that
relate to existing employment opportunities within the local community and workforce
economy.
The O*NET database includes information on skills, abilities, knowledges, work activities, and
interests associated with occupations, and is available online at https://www.onetonline.org/
