Slide 10 – Managing My Anger

You are a role model for your kids, like it or not. Especially for how you
express and manage your anger.

If you tend to lash out with anger, your kids usually take one of two positions.
They will either:

• become aggressive too as a defense
• become passive and afraid – doing anything to avoid raising your
anger.

Kids can also become passive-aggressive, saying one thing but doing another,
or bottled up and unable to express any anger because “anger is bad.”

All of these situations can lead to future problems as the child becomes an
adult. Don’t pass it along… deal with your anger now.
