Creating the College Boot Camp Experience
Using the IM to Teach Content for the College Boot Camp
Each of the 15 sessions in the College Boot Camp contain the following sections:
Pamphlet Overview—Gives an overview of the session content.
Summary of Outcomes – Overviews the key outcomes from the session and any items that
could be added to a student’s file for assessment.
Resources – Materials used in this session, including workbook exercises, pamphlets,
handouts and online resources.
Prepping for this Session – A list of things the instructor should do to prepare for this

specific session.
Homework for this Session – Homework the students will have from this session, and any
long-term assignments that may be in progress, if the sessions are taught in the current
order.
For Evaluation Only
Activities in this Session– lists activities from the pamphlets, handouts, workbook, or
interactive class sessions.
Teaching Tips– Lists any special focus of the session and includes any extra materials that
might be useful to teach the topic including online resources.
Learning Objectives—what the individual should be able to do after completing the
session. Both the student and instructor can sign off on these objectives in the assessment
document for each session.
O*NET KSA Mapping—a chart of the O*NET knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) utilized
in the activities and exercises completed in this session.
Teaching Outline—Detailed discussions with slides for delivering content for the session.
Worksheets and slides are available on the companion CD.
Completing the Assessment Form–Use time at the end of the session to have students
complete the assessment form for the session.
Prepping for College Boot Camp
The following pages contain an overview of each session in the College Boot Camp. Use this
section to design your College Boot Camp and prep your sessions ahead of time, record
interviews, plan guest speakers, and set homework. Use this as your starting point for
creating your own College Boot Camp experience. We’ll look at ways to customize and Mix-
it-Up in the next section on Customizing the College Boot Camp.
