#11 – WHEN YOUR KIDS ARE IN TROUBLE
Physical aggression – Boys are more likely to act out physically with hitting,
fighting, and punching. Girls who’ve been physically or sexually abused are
more likely to resort to this.
Relational aggression – social exclusion, gossip, peer rejection – Girls often
use this technique – the earlier they start, the more physically aggressive they
can get.
Kids who have issues with aggressive behavior need to learn the skills to
control their actions. You can’t assume that just threatening them with severe
punishments will cause them to change. Fights often happen because the kid
doesn’t have the skills to prevent it.
